I am DJ MarcoPolo — once a world-traveling dance teacher, DJ, choreographer, and performer. I lived fast, I shined bright, and I also fell hard.

I am now a recovered addict, gambler, and alcoholic who survived a devastating fire in 2016 that left 60% of my body burned. After years of physical and mental recovery, I found my way back to music, creating and sharing my own songs with the world.

From Spotlight to Survival

I was once a world-traveling dance teacher, DJ, choreographer, and performer — talented, popular, always in the spotlight. In many ways, I still am all of those things, but today in a completely different way.

I am a recovered addict, gambler, and alcoholic. Because of the consequences of my debts and lies, I had no way out.

“If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”
Well, God had different plans for me.

The Fire That Changed Everything

In 2016, I caused an explosion that left me trapped in a fire.
I woke up three months later in a hospital room, surrounded by machines and doctors.

I couldn’t speak.
I couldn’t move.
I didn’t understand what had happened.

A week later, they told me the truth. In front of me was a choice:

Stay in bed, cry, do nothing — and slowly die.

Or fight to survive.

I chose to fight.

One Year of Pain and Rehabilitation

I spent a full year in the hospital.

Endless surgeries.

Long, painful rehabilitation.

Learning how to live with a body 60% burned.

Accepting the loss of fingers on both hands.

Nothing worked like before. But my mind switched into survivor mode.
I taught myself to use my hands differently. I learned to live again.

Phase Two: Mental Recovery

When I left the hospital, my journey wasn’t over — it had just changed.

I faced new questions:

How will I survive in the outside world?

How will people look at me?

What will I do for a living?

For three and a half years, I went through psychotherapy to understand why I had destroyed myself before — and to learn to accept the new me. I had to start everything again from zero.

Rebirth Through Music

Now, in 2025 — nine years later — I have taken my life back into my own hands.

 I started DJing again, little by little.
 I began writing and producing my own songs.
 I realized I have a story to tell.

Today, I create my own music, publish my own songs, and live with love in my heart.

My Message to You

I love my life.
I love being alive.
I love who I am today.
I love myself.
